Unravelling the mysteries of migration
Migratory Ecology Program SELVA
Bird migration is a phenomenon that has both fascinated and confused humans for centuries. Today, through technological advances, we can study these epic travellers in greater detail than ever before. This program uses a wide variety of tools and methodologies to describe the needs of Nearctic-Neotropical migratory birds in Central and South America and uses this information to propose solutions for halting the persistent declines in the populations of many long-distance migratory birds.
.
The goals of this program are:
Understand the needs of migratory birds during the most vulnerable period of the annual cycle - migration
Study the non-breeding ecology of priority species in Central and South America
Convert our new knowledge of migratory birds into actionable recommendations
