SELVA’s environmental education curriculum is under construction. It’s a curriculum that can be included within the normal activities of any school. It has been designed so that teachers can use it independently as it helps them fulfill the requirements within the education standards. The curriculum involves both outside and classroom activities and tackles diverse subjects related to biodiversity, conservation and research.
The first part of this curriculum, designed for children between 9 and 12 years old (or fourth and fifth grade), is focused on Birds and migratory Birds and is already available. On the long term, SELVA intends to expand this curriculum to include activities for all ages. Our vision is to provide the training and tools necessary so that any teacher can include high quality environmental education activities within schools in the Neotropics:
